CONCORDANCE and its use in the language learning is actually a software that is developed for analyzing language data. Concordance program can help us to find and list down a certain word that you want from a single text or from any short essays or stories. The occurrences of article ‘a’, the prepositions ‘about’ and ‘above’ and also noun- ‘absence’ and ‘Adam’ are right the below;

The occurrence of the article ‘a’ are in three position. ‘a’ are in the position of a noun phrase, adverbial phrase and adverbial clause. All the words after the article ‘a’ are actually verbs, but they are transformed into nouns after addition of the article ‘a’.

Next, ‘a’ in the noun phrases, adverbial phrases and adverbial clauses in some of the complete sentences analyzed. In some part of the noun phrase, the article ‘a’ can play as a subject complement. For example, the noun phrase like (‘I suppose I was a clever lad’ and ‘I sat at a pretty quick pace’). It also can function as an object for example, (‘I plucked up a brave heart’) and also can function as adverbials of manner in adverbial phrases and clauses (‘I could not reply for a minute or two’, ‘I said, in a drowsy tone’, ‘at a pretty quick pace’, and ‘I might greet her with a blow’).

Then, the function of the preposition ‘about’. For example, the preposition are used to denote ‘on the topic of subject of’.‘Who told me all this about my poor mother’, ‘did not often think about him’, ‘many voices about me’ are the examples that we can give from the list. Besides that, the prepositions that is been added to the phrasal verbs functions as adverbs, and we can the examples like ‘I tried to move about’, ‘feared that, in moving about…’, ‘when all were running about in wild alarm’. They are also used to explain something which is not certain like ‘When I was about sixteen’, ‘by the road, but only about four’, and ‘an errand to a place about seven miles’.

Lastly, the function of ‘above’ which is to denote ‘higher on a scale of measuring’. For instance, ‘not above half-an-hour’s walk from…’, ‘might not be above his comprehension’. There are examples that we can see where the word ‘absence’ can act as a noun and as an adjectives . In the samples given from the list, ‘absence’ acts as a noun and adjective while ‘Adam’ act as nouns respectively. As for ‘absence’, ‘by my prolonged absence’, ‘absence’ is a noun and the phrase ‘looking absent and moody’- ‘absence’ functions as an adjective. In this kind of ‘Adam’, they play as nouns, refer to a person and act as Object. In the samples included, ‘absence’ acts as a noun and adjective while ‘Adam’ act as nouns.
